It all began with love.
The brainchild of the husband-and-wife team, Brandon Lee and Rosanna Araujo, West Toronto Hustle has its roots in a decade-long love story that began with a “love at first sight” encounter. United by their passion for basketball, the duo’s blended family of six shares a love for the game, turning their home into a lively backdrop of basketball sounds and the rhythmic bounce of a ball as their middle child hones his dribbling skills.
In their quest to find suitable basketball programs for their exceptionally skilled middle child, the couple traversed various neighborhoods, including long drives to Scarborough, recognizing unexplored potential in their own community. The realization that their child and the larger community could benefit from a local initiative prompted Brandon and Rosanna to establish West Toronto Hustle. Fueled by a dual motivation to nurture their child’s talents and contribute to the community, the concept of West Toronto Hustle was born.
West Toronto Hustle is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving marginalized, racialized and criminalized youth of Weston Village. West Toronto Hustle uses basketball as a tool for empowering youth, while fostering a supportive and nurturing community.
